Here’s what MLA formatting tells your reader:

  • You’ve done research and cited it clearly.

  • You care about detail and academic standards.

  • You’re writing in a professional, scholarly way.

MLA helps readers trust your work. It keeps your paper clean, organized, and ethical.

Quick Checklist for MLA Style:

  • 12pt Times New Roman

  • Double spacing

  • 1” margins

  • Header with your name/page number (also in Times New Roman)

  • In-text citations (Author page#)

  • Works Cited page

Still intimidated? Start with just ONE correct citation. Then build from there. You don’t have to be perfect—but you do need to try.
